Participating in the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 scheduled to take place from January 9-12, 2024 in the US, besides already launched names such as VF 8, VF 9, VinFast will bring many surprises to their exhibition booth. The event may be the official “introduction” of VF 3 and the DrgnFly electric bike, along with the appearance of a concept vehicle.
The mysterious concept car was first introduced to the public
As soon as VinFast posted the “tease” image, many social network users paid special attention to the leftmost corner area – the location of a car model that is said to be a concept that will be present at CES 2024. The car was intentionally blurred, but through some simple photo editing steps, enthusiasts were able to observe part of the concept’s design and identify it as a pickup truck.
This is the first time VinFast has displayed a pickup truck concept. Previously, many images depicting the design of VinFast electric pickup trucks were present on social networking platforms, but they all came from the “imagination” of some individuals.
Five years ago, VinFast suddenly attached the design of a pickup truck to the D-class SUV segment category when the company organized a vote on the car designs most loved by Vietnamese people. If the commercial version is the same, the car will compete indirectly with competitors of the same size such as the Ford Ranger or Toyota Hilux.
Back to the concept, the image posted by VinFast revealed most of the car’s front area and part of the body. The concept car has an aggressive and angular design, highlighted by the brand’s signature “bird-wing” LED daytime positioning lights. The bumper and wheel arches are embossed with large black painted blocks, or the wheels have contrasting colored rims.
Slender headlights are located just below the position light strip, while LED fog lights are placed low. The vehicle’s approach angle (angle of approach) is quite large, promising an impressive ability to overcome obstacles. The window area on both sides of the vehicle is also shaped differently compared to most pickup trucks on the market.
Regarding the powertrain, VinFast’s new car is expected to use the same configuration as VF 8 and VF 9, including 2 electric motors with a total capacity of 402 horsepower and 620Nm of torque, 4-wheel drive. all-wheel drive (AWD) and CATL battery pack with available capacity of 123 kWh.
Will VF 3 pre-commercial version be officially launched?
Besides the concept that is said to be a pickup truck, VinFast plans to officially launch the brand’s “youngest brother” model called VF 3 to global consumers.
In October this year, a representative of VinFast shared with Automotive News about the opportunity for an electric urban car model like the VF 3 for a group of consumers interested in low-cost transportation to enter the market. America.
A VinFast consultant even said he brought a full-size VF 3 car model to internal events in the US with the participation of about 100 potential dealers, and most dealers wanted to The car company distributes this “box car” with an expected selling price of less than 20,000 USD (equivalent to 490 million VND).
First launched in June 2023, VF 3 has become a car model that many Vietnamese consumers have been waiting for thanks to its expected affordable price. VinFast even expects this small electric car model to soon become the “national car model” for Vietnamese people. The manufacturer confirmed that the car will have 2 versions: Eco and Plus.
The appearance of VF 3 is impressive thanks to its square design, high chassis, and 3 doors. Some highlights on the exterior include: “bird wing” chrome-plated decorative strip; Columns A and B are painted glossy black; Bumpers, vertical rearview mirror covers, door handles or large wheel arches are made of rough black plastic; 16-inch 5 single spoke alloy rims. The hood (roof) has a different paint color than the body, promising many exterior paint color options for users.
In terms of size, the car has length x width x height parameters of 3,114 x 1,673 x 1,567(mm), respectively. The car will still have a 5-seat configuration, but users will likely have to “sacrifice” the storage space in the trunk.
The interior is simple with a steering wheel that integrates a few buttons and adjustment scroll buttons, and an 8-inch digital dashboard that displays some basic information. The car does not have a central screen, but the Vietnamese car company promises that the electric car in the “mini car” segment will possess all basic smart features.
Information about the electric motor and battery pack is still a mystery, but some sources say the VF 3 will have a maximum operating range of up to 237km on a full charge – suitable for a vehicle oriented to urban travel needs.
The introduction of VinFast VF 3 at CES 2024 will be a “test” for the Vietnamese car company in the US market, which favors large-sized cars and rarely pays attention to the urban car segment. However, with a practical electric car model and an expected “accessible” price, VinFast VF 3 promises to receive certain attention.
In Vietnam, the company plans to open sales of VF 3 next year and start delivering cars around the third quarter of the same year.
DrgnFly – VinFast’s first electric-assist bike
Not only cars, VinFast also brought to CES 2024 its first commercial electric-powered bicycle model called DrgnFly. This car line was present at CES 2023 and display events in Vietnam as a concept product.
DrgnFly is unique with a “playboy” design somewhat similar to BMX mountain bike models, combined with many modern equipment such as LED front lights that can change lighting height, front/rear disc brakes, and reducer. The telescopic front shock absorber can adjust the hardness/softness, the display screen comes with a switch to customize the power assist and pure electric modes. Buyers can choose from a variety of colors for the DrgnFly.
According to specifications from the manufacturer, DrgnFly is 1,695mm long, 690mm wide, and 1,040mm high; Seat height is 760mm. Vehicle weight with battery reaches 32kg and maximum load is up to 130kg. The chassis is made of aluminum material.
The vehicle’s lithium-ion battery pack is removable, convenient for changing batteries or charging with a portable charger with a capacity of 150W. The electric motor integrated into the rear wheel can allow the vehicle to reach a maximum speed of 32km/h according to American standards or 25km/h according to European standards.
VF 9 with new online entertainment service and significantly cheaper price
In addition to the above three “faces”, VinFast will also display the full-size SUV VF 9 at CES 2024. The car company said that visitors will directly experience the new online entertainment service on VF 9 right at the booth. VinFast display.
